Update, update! UFO completed!

WOW!  It's been a long time since posting and A LOT had been going on.  in Sept 2013 I moved into a house with my mother in town... we both have our own sewing room but we share our stash of fabrics...

I've been doing a lot of quilts and have gotten more into patchwork quilting then I ever thought I would!

I shall endeavour to post pics of some of these quilts along the way, but my most recent completed UFO is my sewing machine cover and instead of the planned over the arm pockets I made a pad with pockets for in front of the sewing machine to keep things within reach.

Here is a pic of them both:

The fabrics in this quilt are scraps used up from other projects including from the next quilt picture shown.
All fabrics are flannel
These fabrics were purchased special for a premiee quilt as they were so cute.
Was able to use leftovers in a second quilt.
All fabrics are flannel.

The pink in this quilt was a last piece of scrap fabric but the rest was purchase special for this panel.

Crazy Quilts long over post

These quilts were all completed in the Summer of 2012 but I never got around to posting about them.  Today I was looking at a blog post about scrap quilts and to comment if we'd made any. Well these were all made from scraps (other then the background of course.  Even the border of the blue one is done with scraps :)!

Sweet Dreams quilt

I have finally completed this crib size quilt.  I had my mother layer the batting, top and backing and machine quilt  most of it and then add the binding.  That was before I came across a tutorial that made me realize I could do small quilts on my own kitchen table using painter's tape.
Once mom was done she returned the quilt for me to do the hand quilting around the angel and the words which are quilts with a cloud shape around them.
Sweet Dreams
This quilt will be travelling to my new Great Grand Nephew come Friday when I can make it to the PO.

Christmas 2012 Goodies

It was a long hard year 2012 was.  Most of the year I continually laid up with the knee issues but I'm happy to report that I am FINALLY healed.. well as much as I will be... ages gets ya everytime...

Now is the long hard track to lose all the weight I had lost before this adventure began...

But first.... updating with an album of pictures of all the goodies I received in my many exchanges and swaps.  This is the best way I've found to get the wonderful variety in my stash as there is limited items available locally.  I can only hope that what I send out isn't available where they get sent to so that it increases their stash too.

I thought I was clever and added to my outgoing items as so many did for me last year.. course I have to watch how much due to postage... this year... the ladies have swamped me with goodies and there's just no way I could possibly top it!  I have to first give a HUGE THANK YOU to all who sent to me....  I was having a miserable Christmas but each package helped to brighten things for me and gave me the inspiration and will to dive and get back to my crazy quilting again.

so here goes...

More Victorian Boot Stockings

I was able to finish off both of the other Victorian Boot Stockings tonite so had to show them off too :)
First is the second of the stockings for the swap.

This one is one in whites and silver.

This is the one that will be a gift for my sister, shhhh....
The Black velvet used in these two stockings are from leftover fabric that made
my sister's cape for her recent wedding.  In this stocking
is the blue lining used to line her cape.

After a trip to our local "danger zone" (aka fabric store) the colour schemes
for the other 2 stocking came out.
Mostly due to the buttons :)

1st Victorian Boot Stocking

I have just completed my first Victorian Boot Stocking and I'm so thrilled with it I simply had to share!

I have two more I just need to put together so I'll be finishing them off next! :)

Christmas Tree Skirt wedges

Wow... it's hard to believe it's been this long since I've posted but it's been a slow hard spring and summer and I'm finally beginning to get back on track again.

After a long haul of dealing with severe knee pain, a surgery and then a longer recovery period then I've ever had before (guess it's true it does take longer after you're 40 :(  ), I'm finally learning to deal with the pain I still have left (severe arthritis) by taking the breaks I need and not doing as much as I used to.  So no long hours sitting at the computer and getting up and moving around frequently during the nites of stitching.

I finally finish up those strips needed for that Teen Crazy Quilt so will have to go digging for the pictures of all the quilts that did get completed, but for now I have pictures of the CQed Tree skirt wedges that are finally ready to be sent back to their owners... I sure hope they'll forgive my tardiness and enjoy the work done on them.. I sure loved getting back into CQing by working on these.

Leslie #1
Leslie #2
On Juli's wedges I started with adding silkies of elves and gave them each a border.  I then added in several seam treatments from stitched to trims and added in some buttons and a brooch along with a few other little things.

On Leslie's I used lots of trims, with lots of golds and added a Santa silkie on one and a gold spider on the other.  I did several stitched seam treatments thou kept them to a simple treatment both to save time and because I kept having the vintage look run thru my head while working on them. There are a few buttons and even a brooch as well.

These will be mailed out tomorrow during my day of errands so I'm off to package them up ready to go.  I hope you ladies like the work I've done on them and again.. I'm soo sorry for the delay in getting these done.

Sweet Dreams baby quilt

Wow what an incredibly busy year I've had so far... I've gotten several things done despite having severe pain in my right now... however I've not had a chance to really update my blog of what all I've been up to.

However today I have a treat... I've just finished the quilt top of a baby quilt entitled 'Sweet Dreams".  I think it came out beautifully so I simply had to share with everyone!

The center panel is cross stitched... a design from Pine Glen Designs it was then bordered in a 2" pastel stripe fabric and then the next pieces have Sweet Dreams which were printed on fabric with an ink jet printer and hand appliqued onto the fabric.  once those were all put together it was bordered with 6" strips of crazy patched pastel fabrics and then bordered again with the same pastel stripes fabric.
Sweet Dreams
This will then be quilted and a binding put on.  The angel will be hand quilted around and possibly the Sweet Dreams as well.  the rest will be machine quilted.

This quilt will be available for sale during a couple of local Native Pow Wows this summer.  I sure hope it is picked up by someone who can truly appreciate the work going into this quilt.

Crazy Patch Quilt Blocks

I have begun to make crazy patch blocks to be made into quilts!  These are the first 5 of 16 blue ones I made... Somehow I forgot to take pics of the rest of them

These plus a scrap pieced long enough for the binding have been taken over by my mother who has the table space to put them all together and pin them for the quilting.
We will be selling these at a couple of local Pow Wow's for really a fraction of  what they are worth but if we can recoup some funds we're happy.
Those that don't sell I will use my original plans of donating them to shelters and for its for the needy at Christmas Time.

These are the 16 blocks I've done up for the next Crazy Patch block quilt.  I will leave it up to my mother as to what blocks goes where, etc. These ones I added a few center patches that have fairies on them as they were already cut from a project I was going to use them on and didn't.

These quilt blocks are all being made out of the drawers for scrap pieces of fabric that I have sorted into colours.  The next one will be in pinks!
