Here are three more completed premiee quilts for the Angel Quilt Project.

The fabrics in this quilt are scraps used up from other projects including from the next quilt picture shown.
All fabrics are flannel

These fabrics were purchased special for a premiee quilt as they were so cute.
 Was able to use leftovers in a second quilt.

The pink in this quilt was a last piece of scrap fabric but the rest was purchase special for this panel.

Quilts for Angel Quilt Project

I should have posted the pics of my Christmas Crackers ages ago but have been keeping myself busy enjoying finally getting back to my sewing machine.  Here's what I've been up to... 3 little quilts for premiees for the Angel Quilt Project.

Sweet Dreams baby quilt

Wow what an incredibly busy year I've had so far... I've gotten several things done despite having severe pain in my right now... however I've not had a chance to really update my blog of what all I've been up to.

However today I have a treat... I've just finished the quilt top of a baby quilt entitled 'Sweet Dreams".  I think it came out beautifully so I simply had to share with everyone!

The center panel is cross stitched... a design from Pine Glen Designs it was then bordered in a 2" pastel stripe fabric and then the next pieces have Sweet Dreams which were printed on fabric with an ink jet printer and hand appliqued onto the fabric.  once those were all put together it was bordered with 6" strips of crazy patched pastel fabrics and then bordered again with the same pastel stripes fabric.

This will then be quilted and a binding put on.  The angel will be hand quilted around and possibly the Sweet Dreams as well.  the rest will be machine quilted.

This quilt will be available for sale during a couple of local Native Pow Wows this summer.  I sure hope it is picked up by someone who can truly appreciate the work going into this quilt.

Completed UFO and more!

I have finally managed to finish a UFO!

This has been sitting waiting for me to add the binding on it for months!

Shame on me I know but I stopped because I had to buy the material for the binding and then never got back to it.  But as my New Year Resolution is to get some UFOs into the finished pile... I got to and got this one done!

After that was done I got to and made another quilt top as when these are donated to the hospital I like to have at least 2 crazy patched ones... just because :O)

 And then the next day I decided I wanted one that's more for a boy so I started this one. 

It will have border strips in the brown, plaid before it's finished and the binding will be done in the dark blue.

These were done a while back but have set the quilt aside... have brought it back out to be working on as I can as I hope to have it finished for this Christmas!Close up of the center where most of the work is done.

Motifs for swap

I'm praying that when I get these sent out that they will arrive in time as the deadline for these to be in the coordinators hands is the 31st of Aug.

One of these will be picked by the coordinator as her postal bribe so that leaves at least 2 of the snowflake snowmen that several of the ladies loved when I made them for the center of my Winter RR blocks :)

Weekend full of finsihes!!

I've dived right in with my crazy quilting method to finish panels for Angel Quilt Project (AQP).

Here's the first one!

In the middle of finishing the second one I remembered needing to get the laundry bag done for a sister missionary leaving for her mission next week so Sunday will be the last day I can get it to her. I got it done though!

Raven Crazy Quilted Lap Quilt

Here is the top panel of this quilt I'm making using new designs that will be released during the Online Needlework Show.

Alice's Winter/Holiday block

I almost did the block with the tree when these blocks came to me but then I realized I really didn't have anything to decorate the tree which was my first thought. when it came time to get started I looked at the blocks again and the one with the blank green center just cried out for some cross stitch... perhaps my passion for cross stitching was in need... wasn't sure what but it wanted something! I then went o my Sam hawkins motifs book and the first one I loved was this Santa. I thought it was too big so loked for another. I foud one that said Christmas is Love but then re-measured and went with the Santa thinking he would fit. I was wrong but I made it work by letting his cap hang over but stopped the stitching of his beard so it looked like he was coming up from behinf the bottom block. I then went to my embellishing stash to see what would go with it... I pulled out several things and then has the bright idea that he neeed his sack! It was the teddy bear button that gave me that inspiration. So I dug into the bag of scraps to find some green and cut pieces several times before I came up with the half circle that would give he effect I was looking for. The spider and web was going to go on the other side where the bag went but with no room and no thread to make the flower i wanted to put there that's were he landed. After that it was seam treatments and few trinkets. the mirror was crazy glued onto the back of the jewerlly piece and each stream of beads added by hand. I sure hope Alice enjoyed the piece as much as i enjoyed creating it for her. I'm so glad I have pictures of it!

Winter Wallhanging

This past weekend I finally got the naked blocks put together for yet another RR I'm in with the Crazy Quilting International group. These little guys will be winging their way to the first participant this week.

In these blocks I made use of 2 of the pieces of fabric that came in my Christmas Cracker 2010. The peach and the green.. they were much better matches then the ones I had on hand. The lavender is from an order I got from a great lady at Lisa's Heaven you can still get some great craft supply deals on her website. www.lisasheaven.com

The snowflake motifs are a freebie design I collected years ago from Kreinik.

Vintage Tea Time (naked blocks)

Today I put together the blocks for the Tea Time RR that I'm doing with the Crazy Quilting International Group. Mine are a Vintage Tea Time theme. I used vintage table runners and hankies to make the blocks around cross stitched vintage tea cups stitched on a vintage linen.

Sending out with these blocks will be another corner of the hankies used with the tatting on the edges for each participant to use in their embellishing along with a good selection of pastel buttons from the ones I inherited from my grandmother.

I hope ot have each participant use the corner of hanky and some buttons on each of the blocks.


Once these are completed and back to me and I've finished working on the last block for me to do I will then be making these into a padded book similar to one I've seen pictures of that another CQer made.

Halloween Stitching!

This is the second time I've done any stitching for Halloween.. the first was a model of one of our own Pine Glen Designs by Frishawn Rasheed. This one is a SAL I'm doing of Helga Mandl Designs. It's rather cute. I'm using some of my Six Strand Sweets threads for it.

Motifs for swap

Of late I've been real busy with getting things ready for the garden and have even begun planting!! woohoo!!

However in my stitching I've been working on motifs for a swap I'm doing with the Crazy Quilting International group. I do hope they like what I've done. I like 'em all but not everyone has the same taste.

New to CQing Giveaway!

Ok, I've been Inspired by Nicki Lee's giveaway and decided to give away a Pine Glen Designs model which I stitched, created and finished myself :)

Needlework Show & Tatty Teddy

Today marks the start of the April 2010 Online Needlework Show. Pine Glen Designs is showing over a dozen new cross stitch designs. We're sure you'll find something to peek you interest. Come see what we and other designs have to offer and then go to your local needlework shop and let them know what you want! If you, like me, don't have a needlework shop,= email the designer or check their website, many designers will sell direct to the consumer as we know that many have no LNS.

A quick update on Tatty Teddy.

The challenges I've been noting... I wasn't doing them correctly... I was suppose to be building on that first stitch. So I've decided to continue with Tatty Teddy as is in order to practice the stitches and that'll complete the panel quicker. Then I will go back to the beginning and BUILD on each stitch and see what I come up with... by then I'll have done most stitches and have a better idea on what can be done with it. :)

Tatty Teddy continues...

Not as many seams completed last nite as I spent much of the time gaming with my son. We play one online game and that is Wizard101.com! I'm not one for video type games of any sort but I do enjoy this one with my son. I even got my brother into it.. but enough about that... on to the stitching! :)

I made use of the empty evenweave fabric space to create a patterned line of stitches.

Yet another Judy's Angel

I finished up the panel I was stitching for another Quilts for Breast Cancer quilt which my mother is working. This one was done in Burgundys.

Old Hobbies becoming New again

I've become interested in, and begun collecting stash for my new hobby. Crazy Quilting!

I've had an interest for a while and been looking and looking with increasing interest but hadn't done much about it until Dodiemom said she had some flannette pieces to drop off at our local clothing bank as they had been asking for small pieces of fabric. Sorry folks but I've claimed it all! :)

I've done sewing in the past and enjoyed it but haven't done much since I moved out of the one place I had (when my oldest was only 5) where I had a sewing room all set up. Since then it's been few and far between, giving away one sewing machine, buying a used one when I first moved back to NB and then selling it off cheap to a mother daughter team who were thrilled to get it :)

Then last fall clean up a neighbour had a sewing machine in it's own cabinet on the side of the road. I enlisted a friend to help walk it down to my home. Recently had it in for an maintenance costing me only $12 and now I have a sewing machine I'm once again enjoying using.

My first little quilt was inspired by the 2 little Winnie the Pooh pieces found in the box of fabric I received from Dodiemom. So I sat one night and pieced it together with pins. I took several short cuts by pinning it all down on one piece of fabric and then placing that on the batting and another piece of fabric and then adjusted all the pins to go thru all the layers.

I then did a simple zigzag stitch on all the edges, without even folding in the edges, to give it a scrappy look and feel. It still needs to the binding of the edges and I've pieced together a top for a pillow to go with it. This and the second one I've pieced together and pinned with the batting and backing are for doll quilts with matching pillow.

I hope to sell a few but those I don't sell will be wrapped into gifts for needy children at Christmas time. (Oh... just remembered about the leaving a toy to be found idea I came across a whilte back... another idea :) )

I've been inspired just now by Diane's Blog and love the work I've seen on her site. I hope to one day learn some of the many stitches I seen on her site.

I'll be collecting trims, laces, buttons and more.. where will I put it all LOL
