Fabric Enhancement!

Not long ago I picked up this piece of fabric that inspired me to do a quilt of wild cats.. especially as I love cats of all kinds! I have done some searching and found a wonderful site where I could get several different cat prints including a seller on eBay.

However today while in the meagre fabric department of our local Walmart store I actually came across a few of the fabrics I was looking at online and didn't get because they were currently out of stock... lucky for me as they were actually a little bit cheaper here and I was able to get the little bit I really needed rather then full metres ... and with my limited budget that's a good thing.

Here is a pic of the cat prints I picked up today. I haven't decided if I will do just wild cats and use the other cats print for another quilt I have in mind. A seller on eBay has some really nice cats with Victorian teacups and pots so I want to do a Victorian theme quilt with cats :)
I also picked up some solid coloured fabrics for my stash enhancement for the day. :)

Fabulous First Time #13

I just finished up the naked block to use for my FFT #13 round robin that I'm doing with the Crazy Quilting International group. It'll be the first block in my own personal fairy quilt... at least that's the plan right now :)

I knew I'd treasure the first one and I've been itching to begin putting together the blocks for the fairy quilt I wish to do for myself. So why not be sure this block will be for me :)

Here's a pic!

Needlework Show & Tatty Teddy

Today marks the start of the April 2010 Online Needlework Show. Pine Glen Designs is showing over a dozen new cross stitch designs. We're sure you'll find something to peek you interest. Come see what we and other designs have to offer and then go to your local needlework shop and let them know what you want! If you, like me, don't have a needlework shop,= email the designer or check their website, many designers will sell direct to the consumer as we know that many have no LNS.
A quick update on Tatty Teddy.

The challenges I've been noting... I wasn't doing them correctly... I was suppose to be building on that first stitch. So I've decided to continue with Tatty Teddy as is in order to practice the stitches and that'll complete the panel quicker. Then I will go back to the beginning and BUILD on each stitch and see what I come up with... by then I'll have done most stitches and have a better idea on what can be done with it. :)

Always make a negative into a positive. So here's today's update pic.
Be sure and stop by the PINE GLEN DESIGNS "booth" at the Needlework Show and get your free chart for the Mother's Day fob. If you'd like the complete set of fob, needlecase and biscornu charts simply send us a picture of your finished project of the fob chart and the needlecase chart with then be sent to you. Once a pic of the finished needlecase is sent to us a chart of the biscornu will then be sent to you... At that point you can don nothing further OR send us a pic of the complete set and be entered into the contest for the door prize!

#21 Detach chain half circle (with center bead)

Here is challenge:

#22 Beaded straight stitch

I added a few stitches here for challenge:

#16 Sheaf stitch
For challenge:

#23 Cross Stitch pattern

I made use of the empty evenweave fabric space to create a patterned line of stitches.

My Fairy's Name

Your fairy is called Bramble Rainbowwitch
She is a fortune bringer.
She lives in leafy dells and bluebell glades.
She is only seen in the enchanted moment between sleep and waking.
She wears bluebell-blue dresses. She has multicoloured wings like a butterfly.

Tatty Teddy with weekly challenges

In my new favourite group CrazyQuiltingInternational we have weekly challenges. They are on week #52 but I decided to start way back at #1 and use them on the Tatty Teddy panel.

Here's what the whole thing looks like to date:

Now for some close up views of the newly stitched areas:

#14 Buttons!

These show the beginnings:

#1 Chain stitch
#2 Cretan stitch (which I then added detached chain/lazy daisy stitch to)
#3 Double row Herringbone (these I offset due to the way the blocks where sitting)

This one shows pretty much all the seams that I've gotten stitched. I decide to start in one corner and work my way out. Let's see added to the above there's:

#4 Chrevon stitch
#5 Semi-Circles (offset)
#6 Tied- Cross Stitch
#7 Woven stitch
#8 Angles
#9 Long & Short Buttonhole
#11 Pyramid buttonhole

I haven't yet done the #10 weekly challenge.

Now to show off my beaded dragonflies!

I hope you enjoy seeing what's been keeping me busy these days :)

Beginning to Emblish Tatty Teddy

Here is the full panel after last nite's stitching on the Tatty Teddy panel. I just couldn't think of seam embroideries so I went with what I could think up and this is what came out.
Knowing we all like to see things close up here are a few to see the areas I did.

This is the bottom of the panel and the first bit that I did. I drew on the stem and leaves and used a stem stitch for them. I couldn't decide on flowers but then put these beads on and they looked so good I went with them. I then added a couple butterfly beads above them.

Next...
I ruffled up some silk ribbon and added a rose bead to the center and attached them to the corner by the Teddy. Not bad for a first time try at them. :)

Then I decided I wanted to try to make a ribbon trail so I attached one end and decided to cover the end with a button and topped that with a flower bead. I then ruffled the ribbon as I went and each time I attached it to the panel I then added a bead. I finished off the same way as I began with the button and bead.

I then attached a dragonfly charm to a small patch.

Tatty Teddy Wallhanging for SS

After finishing up the Judy's Angel cross stitch panel this past weekend I spent the rest of the weekend stitching up the cutest little Tatty Teddy panel. This one I used within a crazy quilt block which will be finished as a wallhanging.... SHHH it's for my Secret Sister. I had to go get the fabrics this afternoon but just this evening I whipped up the crazy patching.

Here is the naked panel before I get on with the embroidery.

Yet another Judy's Angel

I finished up the panel I was stitching for another Quilts for Breast Cancer quilt which my mother is working. This one was done in Burgundys.

Crazy Quilting

I have begun yet another new hobby. - Crazy Quilting! Thus far I have been doing mostly organizing of stash that I've purchased and stash that has been given to me. However in amongst that I have managed to begin a set of blocks. I purchased a piece of fabric which had several pictures on it and after cutting them out I had a full set of 8 different pics and another set of 6. I've begun with the 6 and have 3 of them crazy patched. They are called naked blocks as they do not as yet have the embroidery on them. Well I did begin on one but even that's not complete as yet.

Here are the first 3 blocks to the set of 6.
I hope to be able to get back to them soon and begin learning all the new stitches I've been reading up on.
